Celebrating 20 years of partnership with the Premier League, Nike have decided to re-launch the limited-edition Geo Merlin ball, with the ball being a carbon copy of the first Nike ball to be used in the Premier League back in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 season.
The 2019/20 season will be the 20th Premier League season that Nike have been the official ball manufacturer, and to celebrate, the Swoosh is re-releasing its first-ever Premier League ball, the Geo Merlin. Billed at the time as the roundest, fastest, most accurate ball ever, 992 goals were scored using it during the 2000/01 season. With the ball retailing at £155, we don’t think this will be the ball you’ll be choosing to play heads and volleys with.
Designed as a like-for-like remake of the original, the re-released Nike Geo Merlin features Dynamic Support Structure to keep the ball in shape when struck for those with a solid ping, and a high-solid polyurethane foam to provide responsiveness and vulcanized latex rubber to create a ‘trampoline’ effect returning impact energy, ideal for the affluent toe bungers of the world. Only 600 units of the limited-edition Geo Merlin will be released globally.
