Following on from our Diadora article earlier in the week (available here), Lotto have taken us on another footballing nostalgia trip by re-launching their iconic Stadio boot but with a modern twist. The Lotto Stadio ‘Made In Italy’ edition in our opinion is up there as one of the best leather football boots of all time, and has been released in the Lotto original and trademark black and green colourway.

The Italian brand were one of the dominant forces in European football throughout the 80s, 90s and early 00s and the Stadio was their trademark boot. Worn by iconic figures such as Andriy Shevchenko, Gheorghe Hagi, Cafu, and Clarence Seedorf the Stadio it was a customary figure at any major International and Club tournament for many a year. That classic fold-over tongue, the bold heel branding, the splash of green, magnifico. Its great to see Lotto back.

Underneath the fold-over tongue is a patch that references the original design from 1990, but it’s all about that premium kangaroo leather. There seems to be two camps of footballer nowadays – One which like the new generation of boots such as the laceless, synthetic and knitted boots and the other which seems to long for the days of traditional, well made, good quality football boots. I think we can all agree that the latter has been somewhat neglected in recent seasons, but we expect this re-release could join the traditionalists and the new generation of players together in their appreciation of the style of the Lotto brand.
