Javier Hernandez has moved to LA Galaxy from Sevilla to replace the talismanic Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has signed a three-year deal with the club that will see him become the highest paid player in MLS.

Still only 31, Chicharito has become quite the journeyman in recent years, never really quite showing the form in his early Manchester United/ Leverkusen days at both West Ham and Sevilla (although it could be argued he was never given the full opportunity at the latter two). The Mexican is set to settle in at his sixth club in his storied career following the announcement that he has signed a three year deal with LA Galaxy as a Designated Player, worth around £100,000 a week. The move will also put Mexico’s all-time leading scorer in direct competition with his international teammate, Carlos Vela, who is the current bagsman extraordinaire of Galaxy’s fiercest rivals, LAFC. Definitely something that will add an extra spice to future El-Trafico derbies.

The more important news to the football fashionistas of the world is that coinciding with Chicharito’s unveiling as a Galaxy player the club have also launched the new LA Galaxy 2020/21 home jersey. By all accounts the rumour was that all clubs in the MLS were to have a collective kit launch at a special event hosted by adidas at New York Fashion Week on 5 February, seems the LA club didn’t get the memo, or internet rumours are wrong.

The new shirt marks the 25th anniversary of LA Galaxy and this anniversary shirt features a stunning new design that sees silver accents complimenting the white base, marking a departure from the gold and blue accents of years gone by. In addition there is a striking sash that fades across the front of the shirt, which we are a huge fan of. Our favourite part of the new shirt though is the sublime Three Stripes across the right shoulder. adidas have had a great track record with their kit designs in the MLS historically (check out the history of MLS Kits HERE). Let’s hope the rest of the MLS kits follow a similar pattern to this.
